Every Shrove Tuesday, Olney's women have the chance to run the world famous Olney Pancake Race.

It is an event which is possibly traced back to 1445 according to legend, though the historians dispute it!

The race starts at 11.55 am outside The Bull Inn.

Children from Olney schools will run their own races earlier in the day. And we also compete against the women of Liberal, Kansas, USA in an international race!

Our historical guides and archive reports below give a flavour of the day.
