    Description

Althorp House is the historic home of the Spencer family and where Diana, Princess of Wales grew up and is buried. (Please note the exhibition about her life closed in 2013).

In the main house, Althorp has one of Europe's finest private collections of furniture, paintings, photographs and ceramics. There are 19 rooms in the House to explore, including some of the Spencer family's private apartments. Charles, 9th Earl Spencer has been in charge for several decades of the Stately Home's 500-year history, but has striven in that time to make a positive difference.

    • You can picnic in the grounds or visit Althorp's Café or shop.
    • Free parking, including disabled parking is available for all visitors and is situated just outside the visitor entrance.
    • Pets not admitted to the Park.
    • Accessibility: The visitor route is accessible by wheelchair with the exception of the first floor of the House. Carers accompanying visitors with disabilities are admitted free. Guide dogs are welcome and an audio tape is provided free of charge for blind and partially-sighted people.
